Senior Send-off 2008!

Hey guys!

It’s that sad time, where we must say good-bye to a year gone, and to all those people we are losing to the rest of the world. In the past, we’ve just gone to Mt. Everest as a group and called it an outing, but now, we’ve grown to where that’s not exactly feasible.

I understand that yesterday people pretty much decided that Friday night after practice was the best time to have this, so let’s do it then! What we need to decide now is the following:

Location: Someone’s apartment would probably be best because I don’t think MCC would take too kindly to raucous Backstreet Boys songs at 3 AM.

Food: I think now we have enough people that we should just order a couple party trays of miscellaneous goods (Joy Yee’s if it were open, Mt. Everest if they do it, Buff Joes for a side dish) in addition to potluck-style. Just discuss it below so we can get the ideas flowing.

What: We need to have a general meeting before (it’ll be short! I promise!), and then we need dinner, and Val suggested we go to the beach/lakefill or something and goof off before we get driven inside by mosquitoes, where the fun shall continue.

If you have anything else to suggest, put it below! Let’s start figuring this out! Time is short!

  8. mmmm thai. hm. argyle has cheap foods, too. could buy bulk bbq pork/shui mai bao zi.

oh, and if someone is willing to provide the ice cream, i can make mochi (either coconut, plain, or chocolate). or just mochi without ice cream works too.

…i finally found this blog. =]

  12. I have to record a recital Friday night, so I won’t be able to show up until 9 probably. 😦 but I’ll still ask upstairs if it’s okay with them just in case

  14. The forecast says it’ll rain on Friday. It may stop by night, but so far, doesn’t have any info after 12 pm. I will keep checking.

What time will the party start? I know I have a final newscast party/get-together at 5:30 but I doubt it’ll last that long. I may just miss the general meeting right after practice, that’s all.

As for food and activities, everything you mentioned sounds good. YES TO THAI FOOD. YES TO MOCHI!

  15. theoretically i think it would be really cool to have a humongous bonfire on the lakefill esp. since that would be like, literally going out with a huge !?FUEGOOO?! and we could roast marshmallows and stuff.

… but that also would require reserving the bonfire pit through norris and submitting some kind of fire permit form to the city of evanston- which is a huge hassle and kind of late – plus it wouldn’t work if it’s going to rain. so it’s just an idea i’m throwing out there, maybe for next year?

    thai food is gooood 🙂

  16. Chicken Shack would be godly. I also have kimchi.
Do we have a general meeting time?

  17. I think doing it outside would be sweet if it doesn’t rain plus outdoor DDR is always fun! Yes to mochi yes to Thai and yes to toasting marshmallows. I know a secret spot for sticks

  18. Yeah, it’s going to rain all day Friday. I’ll keep checking no matter what in case the weather takes a turn for the better.

  19. mkay, so i know that we can’t reserve the firepit cuz lu already tried to do so for our pp bbq. bonfire is kinda out. i mean, we can do an illegal one, but i don’t know how advisable that is when it might keep me from graduating 😛
    THIS BE TOMORROW!!!!!!!!
FOOD: maybe we should try for finger food to eliminate the need for utensils – we could always do a roll-your-own-korean-sushi if you want, just let me know real soon
mochi–> let me know if you want any help!
marshmallows – what about microwave smores instead?

    we need drinks!
who wants to bring pop? plates? cups? utensils?

we also need to figure out place(s) and time(s).

i am pretty sure ddr will be involved. i know mahjong will be involved. i’m interested in karaoke, just because i love singing with you guys – it’ll happen even if we don’t have karaoke. i also think a place that has lots of sitting room for boardgames/bunnygame/watermelongame/stupid things we all love will be a good idea

heh. i like taking up lots of space

  20. Titanic anyone?

    Comment by joefasho | June 5, 2008 | Reply

  21. Hmmm I’m meh on thai food but I do think going to a restaurant would be better. Something about eating and actually having to stay in your seat makes conversations easier… and I WANNA talk to the seniors and HPMErs before they leave.

Of course as long as the food is good can’t complain.

  22. Aww man. No Titanic?

  23. I’m probably going to be busy until ~9pm.. I think I’ll probably be making mochi around noon, but I could make it at night instead if we’re at someone’s place so it’s more fresh…. either way.

    Comment by nupd | June 6, 2008 | Reply

  24. So obviously, I was not at the meeting. Are we doing this on the Lakefill? Where will the rain location be? And where will we go to play DDR?

    Comment by limitbreaker | June 6, 2008 | Reply

  25. That is a good question: Where exactly are we playing DDR? I would certainly like to, but I also don’t want to be nasty as fuck due to the weather combined with practice.
