Dopeness

So earlier today, a couple of us went to Willard to give a little workshop and a freestyle session for the freshmen to show what ReFresH is about, kinda like last year when Alan was a CA there. Unfortunately, they were on a tight schedule and could only do a session for about half an hour or so, so pretty much each of us, as in myself, Dwu, Jason, Kevin, Chris Nho, Joe Kim, Sam Jang and Han got to freestyle only once, some of us were lucky enough to dance twice, and then gave a very very brief workshop on how to break and pop. It was all good, got lots of people who were impressed with us, and hopefully we’ll get some new members.

Afterwards, Chris thought it was too short and randomly says, “Hey, session at the arch. Now.” He grabs his battery powered speakers and we head out to the dimly lit arch, and had a ridiculous session for an hour. LEGIT. We had crowds of people going, “Dude, that so sick.” Sometimes it got too loud, a cop car drove up to us to keep it down! I have to say that I always wanted to dance in front of the arch. But what made it epic was that it was at 12 AM!! Yeah, that’s right. We’re just that awesome.

Sure we had haters shouting random shit at us from passing cars, but screw those guys. They’re just jealous they can’t do half the stuff we can. We even had random people come up and do stuff for 2 seconds! I’d have to say that tonight was a pretty frickin’ epic night for ReFresH, and hopefully it’ll attract some new members. I’d definitely love to do this again sometime! I’m already excited for the new year!

CelebrAsia Video!

Here it is! Great job guys, I definitely think we’ve hit a new level here. I’m so proud of the way the set turned out. A quick reminder before you indulge in the video, this is usually the time where we get the most new recruits, after they’ve seen our first show. On that note, please advertise our open sessions to people so we can get fresh talent! Don’t hesitate to point them to any of the exec members if they have any questions either.

Shaun Evaristo Workshop

It’s official! Shaun Evaristo will be coming here to Northwestern to teach two classes. Here’s the details (which will be updated when we get more info on where and when we’ll be having it, but this is what is confirmed ^__^)

Who: Shaun Evaristo
When: November 4th (Tuesday) and November 5th (Wednesday), sometime in the PM after classes
How much:

• $20 each at the door
• $30 for both classes pre-registration, paid in advance in cash
• $32 for both classes pre-registration, paid in advance via Paypal (this is kinda an experiment, but I hope it works)

So who is he? Well, he regularly teaches at Millenium Dance Complex in LA, which claims to be the home of such big names as Wade Robson, Britney Spears, NSYNC, and Janet Jackson. He heads his group known as Gen2, as well as The Company (recently placed second in Body Rock 2008), and The Camp. His credits include dancing with Kaba Modern, Funkanometry SF, and the Other Duck.

He ALSO is starting to get really big recently, traveling internationally to Europe to teach classes, as well as choreographing in Korea for such big stars as Big Bang and Tae Yang.

Senior Send-off 2008!

Hey guys!

It’s that sad time, where we must say good-bye to a year gone, and to all those people we are losing to the rest of the world. In the past, we’ve just gone to Mt. Everest as a group and called it an outing, but now, we’ve grown to where that’s not exactly feasible.

I understand that yesterday people pretty much decided that Friday night after practice was the best time to have this, so let’s do it then! What we need to decide now is the following:

Location: Someone’s apartment would probably be best because I don’t think MCC would take too kindly to raucous Backstreet Boys songs at 3 AM.

Food: I think now we have enough people that we should just order a couple party trays of miscellaneous goods (Joy Yee’s if it were open, Mt. Everest if they do it, Buff Joes for a side dish) in addition to potluck-style. Just discuss it below so we can get the ideas flowing.

What: We need to have a general meeting before (it’ll be short! I promise!), and then we need dinner, and Val suggested we go to the beach/lakefill or something and goof off before we get driven inside by mosquitoes, where the fun shall continue.

If you have anything else to suggest, put it below! Let’s start figuring this out! Time is short!
