World’s first recorded Headspin!
Sup ReFresH. It’s been a while since I posted here, so thought I’d put something up. Thank you all for showing me love on my birthday. =)
Here are a few clips of one of my biggest inspiration’s: bboy Ynot from Rock Steady Crew. Lady’s and gents–now this is how you toprock. Also notice his nasty musicality.
Also, check out Bboy Alien Ness–president of Mighty Zulu Kings. Stylistically, my favorite bboy–even though he doesn’t break as much anymore because of health reasons. He’s been breakin for over 27 years, so his sense of flow is just ridiculous.
Also, here is the world’s first recorded headspin. The video was recorded by Thomas Edison in 1898. Notice, he almost looks like he’s practicing a set.
Enjoy!
Remember bboys and bgirls, breaking is first and foremost an attitude. The most important thing is to have character. As bboy Poe One (MZK, Style Elements, Rock So Fresh) once said, you can teach anyone all the foundational moves and steps in breaking, but what reaaally makes it breaking is having that bboy attitude. Haha, this is after he spent 4 months trying to teach ballet dancers how to break, but what he noticed was that while they all knew how to do the moves, they couldn’t do it with that bboy character. They were all doing it like ballet dancers. And I think that honestly is the essence of breaking. Kinda like House, it’s really a feeling. =)
Hope that helps guys. Do your best, and don’t get discouraged or frustrated if you’re not feelin it. Just have fun and be yourself. Be confident and comfortable. That’s the best way to improve. =)
Hope that helps.
Bboy Mantiis on Biting
What’s up people. A while back, Jason put up a really interesting blogpost on a note on facebook on biting. Earlier this week, I had a discussion with a few people on the concept of biting, and I thought that this blogpost did a pretty good job summing it up. (My views are probably along the same lines as his)
The writer is Bboy Mantiis, a breaker widely respected in the bboy community. So it mainly focuses on biting and breaking, but I think it can definitely be applied to other styles of hip-hop dance. And whether you agree with it or not, it’s a pretty fast read and it definitely merits the attention of any aspiring dancer at any skill level.
Enjoy!

The whole thing is a must read (especially the second part about ‘influence’ vs. ‘biting’
Jinjo Crew Routines
Prepare for 10 minutes of freaking epic dopeness.
Expression Crew
Hey ya’ll. Just thought I’d share this video. This crew was the first of the first generation of Korean bboys to have gotten good… arguably the very crew that put Korea on the map for breakdancing.
Well, instead of competing and battling… they’re more of a performing breaking crew now. They’re style is really different… like maybe “not hip-hop.” But then again.. what’s hip-hop.
Anyway, it’s still really fun to watch, and they’re pretty creative. Enjoy!
PREPIX
Hey boys and girls,
I just thought I’d share this ridiculous hip-hop dance group I saw a while back. This group is called PREPIX from Korea. They’ve got a really creative and innovative style. Watch from beginning to end, guys. They have a lot of clever ideas, that actually have been stolen by a lot of other dance groups.
Hope this inspires u guys. =)
Really disgusting Breakin Styles
Hey ReFresH.
Allow me to introduce Bboy Flex (Gambler Crew) and Bboy Sick (leader of Gamblerz Crew) from Korea. Because of breakin’s inherent individuality, everyone has their own unique and creative style.
However, these two bboys take this creativity to a really… disgusting… level. Like they do things that absolutely nobody in the world can do. It’s definitely not my ideal kind of style, but with their flexibility and creativity, they bring so many new and different things to the breakin world. Check them out. While it’s a little bit unconventional and like… disgusting… it really is quite amazing and inspiring though.
Wow. Check out 3:40. I’ve never seen anyone do headspins like that.
Recovering….
Sup ya’ll. So today, I went to SPAC with Kevin, Nick, and Alan and had a solid 3+ hours of practice with them. Today, I learned that Finals, bad colds, and general fat-boy eating habits are highly detrimental to any dancer’s aspirations.
It was Terri-bad…
But fear not, I will be making a comeback… shortly.
So here is my popping/isos freestyle for today. Just a little musicality training. Yes, I’ve been listening to very fruity music lately. But hey. Christina Aguilera is a very talented woman… and she’s freaking hot.
Ya, and I’m not gonna be posting up a breaking video until Friday, cuz I’m still not fully recovered… unless u guys want to see a fat Asian boy rolling on the ground like he’s trying to reach for another donut….

Bboy Lilou
Sup guys. I hope studying and school is all going well. Also, congrats to everyone who completed DM.
I just wanted to post up a video of one of my favorite bboys out there right now. He’s bboy Lilou from France. He’s been dancing for about 14 years, and is part of Pokemon Crew. His style is so flexible (but not like disgusting) and unique and he’s so well-rounded.
Enjoy!
